Wolfpack Writes: NC State’s 14-Day Fall Writing Challenge
Join colleagues across NC State for a structured, 14-day writing sprint. Running October 20 through November 2, 2026.
We’re excited to welcome you to the CWSP 14-Day Writing Challenge, a focused two-week writing practice designed to help you build consistent writing momentum without waiting for large blocks of uninterrupted time.
The challenge asks faculty, staff and graduate students to make a short, daily commitment to writing. Whether you’re drafting an article, revising a grant proposal, advancing a dissertation or making progress on another writing project, this is an opportunity to protect your writing time, build a sustainable habit and make meaningful progress.
What you can expect:
- Daily morning emails with focused guidance and a clearly defined writing mission
- Protected writing time and a community of colleagues writing alongside you
- An in-person kickoff at the D.H. Hill Jr. Library Faculty and Staff Reading Room (FRC) on Oct. 20, National Day on Writing
- Two optional drop-in writing sessions on Oct. 23 and Oct. 30, at the at the D.H. Hill Jr. Library FRC, available virtually and in person
The 14-Day Writing Challenge is designed to encourage a consistent writing practice within the demands of academic and professional schedules. Rather than relying on extended periods of uninterrupted time, participants establish a manageable daily writing goal and dedicate time each day to making progress on their writing.
The challenge emphasizes the development of a sustainable writing practice rather than the completion of a specific project. Participants determine their own goals based on their individual writing needs, whether measured by time, pages, words or progress on a particular project. Over the course of two weeks, regular writing sessions can help establish consistency and maintain momentum.
Optional drop-in writing sessions on Oct. 23 and Oct. 30 provide dedicated writing time and opportunities to connect with colleagues. Participants may join virtually or in person and can use the sessions to work independently alongside others engaged in their own writing.

Wolfpack Writes is currently only available to NC State faculty, staff, post docs and graduate students. If you are not affiliated with NC State and are interested in participating in future writing challenges offered by NC State Office for Faculty Excellence and the Campus Writing and Speaking Program, please provide your information here.
