About OFFER

Welcome to the forefront of faculty development with OFFER – Open, Free, Faculty Educational Resources! For decades, educational institutions have championed the cause of open educational resources (OERs), as defined by UNESCO: “learning, teaching, and research materials in any format and medium that reside in the public domain or are under copyright, released under an open license, permitting no-cost access, re-use, re-purpose, adaptation, and redistribution.”

Enter OFFER, designed to echo these benefits in the realm of faculty development. Historically, such resources were confined to the institutions that originated them, creating an imbalance where larger, well-funded institutions enjoyed a wealth of development materials, leaving smaller institutions at a disadvantage. OFFER seeks to level the playing field by facilitating the exchange of faculty development resources across institutions.

By promoting accessibility and public access, OFFER aims to enhance the quality of faculty learning materials, encourage knowledge sharing, and elevate the visibility and value of faculty development as a whole. With educational materials residing in the public domain, each use enhances their effectiveness. No longer must faculty developers reinvent the wheel; instead, working from shared learning materials fosters a sense of community and collaboration among those dedicated to advancing faculty educational development.
