OFE Faculty Fellow Opportunities
Join the OFE team for 2024-2025! We are looking to fund four Office for Faculty Excellence Faculty Fellows who will facilitate either one of the OFE RED certification programs, Faculty Affairs programming, or External Awards and Recognition. The fellow positions are:
- A fellow to facilitate the Universal Course Design Certification (UCDC) (formerly known as the ITC)
- A fellow to assist with External Awards and Recognition
- A fellow to assist with Faculty Affairs (COACHE survey results and policy changes)
- A fellow to assist with the TH!NK Critical and Creative Thinking Certification
The UCDC fellow will work with the Associate Director of Faculty Development to facilitate a cohort of faculty who will be participating in the certification program. The External Awards and Recognition Fellow will work with the Director of External Awards and will participate in the planning, operation, and assessment of the external award initiatives for faculty at NC State. The Faculty Affairs fellow will work with the Associate Vice Provost for Academic Personnel and Policy to respond to COACHE survey results and policy changes. The TH!NK Faculty Fellow will work with the Director of the TH!NK Certification to facilitate the program.
Each fellow will receive $2500 per semester for each of fall and spring terms, beginning August 16, 2024 and ending May 15, 2025. Faculty with either 9 or 12 month appointments are eligible. Some positions may have the possibility for renewal through a second year.
UDC Certification Faculty Fellow
The Universal Course Design (UDC) Faculty Fellow will facilitate one of the OFE RED certification programs. The program is the Universal Course Design Certification (formerly known as Inclusive Teaching Certification-ITC). The fellow will work with the Associate Director for Faculty Development and Instructional Technology Designer to facilitate a cohort of faculty who will be participating in the certification program housed in Moodle. Faculty with either 9 or 12 month appointments are eligible. There is potential for additional compensation for summer effort. This position will be for one year with the possibility for renewal through a second year. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitate faculty learning and completion of the RED certification
- Track and report progress of participants
- Track and report completion participants.
- Interact with faculty to motivate and energize them through the process and participate in topical discussions.
- Work with OFE staff to resolve issues related to the program.
Minimum Education/Experience
- Experience teaching in higher education
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching
- Current faculty member at NC State
- Experience using Moodle
- Expertise in higher education pedagogy and instructional design
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of constituencies
- Ability to work independently within a structure of collaboration and teamwork
- Proficiency with Google G Suite, Microsoft Office, and Moodle
- Familiarity with tools for information access, collaboration, and instruction using current technologies
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
- Graduate of the OFE’s CTC and/or ITC certification program
- Experience teaching in Moodle
- Experience mentoring instructors
Compensation
August 16 – December 13, 2024 $2,500
January 6 – May 15, 2025 $2,500

External Awards and Recognition Faculty Fellow
The Faculty Fellow for External Awards will participate in the planning, operation, and assessment of the external award initiatives for faculty at NC State in conjunction with other Office for Faculty Excellence (OFE) staff. This faculty fellow position comes with $2500 per semester for each of fall and spring terms. Faculty with either 9 or 12 month appointments are eligible. There is potential for additional compensation for summer effort. This position will be for one year with the possibility for renewal through a second year. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Establish awards presence in career mapping. Develop timeline for early and mid career faculty
- Engage with colleges to develop liaison network and external award presence
- Create resources for faculty using best practices from experience and discipline
Minimum Education/Experience
- Terminal degree in a relevant field required
- Experience teaching in higher education
- Current faculty member at NC State
- Experience serving on an award committee preferred
- Experience applying to and receiving internal and external awards
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of constituencies
- Ability to work independently within a structure of collaboration and teamwork
- Familiarity with tools for information access, collaboration, and instruction using current technologies

Faculty Affairs (COACHE survey)
The OFE Faculty Affairs Fellow will work with OFE staff to disseminate information and results of the COACHE Faculty Satisfaction Survey. The fellow will engage in developing ideas to respond to COACHE survey results. The fellow will help to analyze college level COACHE survey results over time. In addition to working with COACHE survey results, the fellow will also assist with the implementation of System Office policy changes.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Developing reports for distributing COACHE survey results to academic leaders and faculty
- Collaborating with OFE and the Office of Institutional Strategy and Analysis (ISA) to:
- Summarize high and low trends
- Identify strategies to address areas of concern
- Generate reports for colleges
- Developing presentations for academic units
- Presenting in college and/or department level presentations
- Assist with policy updates and implementation of faculty-related System Office policy changes
- Developing SOPs and FAQs about policy changes
- Creating content for the website about policy changes
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with quantitative data analysis
- Familiarity with academic policies and procedures

TH!NK Certification Faculty Fellow
The TH!NK Faculty Fellow will work with OFE staff and the TH!NK Certification Director to facilitate a cohort of faculty who will be participating in the TH!NK: Cultivating Critical and Creative Thinking certification program housed in Moodle, and implemented as an asynchronous program enriched with monthly opportunities for synchronous interaction.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitate faculty learning and completion of the RED TH!NK certification (maximum 16 faculty)
- Review and provide feedback on faculty deliverables (discussion board and two assignment submissions)
- Facilitate monthly synchronous meetings with participants
- Provide on-going support/mentorship to faculty participants over the course of the year
- Track and report progress and completion of participants
Preferred Skills:
- Prior experience with aligning course outcomes and activities with the Critical and Creative Thinking Process
- Prior experience as a participant in TH!NK would be beneficial
