New Faculty Orientation
New Faculty Orientation (NFO) is an event sponsored by the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost and organized by the Office for Faculty Excellence. NFO is offered for all full-time tenured, tenure-track and full-time professional track faculty new to the University and for those who have come to NC State within the past year, or did not attend the preceding year’s NFO.
The purpose of the event is to provide information, skills and resources for faculty to successfully begin teaching, research, and extension and engagement activities at NC State and to familiarize faculty with NC State.
The program provides opportunities for networking among new faculty members and interaction with experienced NC State faculty and university administrators.
NFO 2023 will have both in-person and virtual/asynchronous components. Sometime after August 7, new faculty will receive an email with:
- Details about the New Faculty Meet-and-Greet and luncheon on Thursday, August 17, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the McKimmon Center. New faculty will hear from Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Warwick Arden and members of the Office for Faculty Excellence team.
- Instructions for how to access the asynchronous NFO Moodle course will be included.
New faculty will also receive a separate invitation to a New Faculty Reception held at the Chancellor’s Residence, The Point (Thursday, August 17, 5:30 p.m.- 7 p.m.).
