External Faculty Awards
External awards refer to any awards, fellowships or honorary memberships that are awarded outside of NC State University. External recognition can increase visibility for new research or provide deserving acknowledgment for career achievements and contributions to the field.
Awards and fellowships provide necessary resources that can help faculty build on their research and teaching. Financial support, time and access to an expanded community of scholars are some of the key advantages of receiving an award.
Below is a brief, searchable inventory of national and international awards that have been identified based on the strengths of NC State faculty. Included you will find a snapshot of the award, eligibility information, deadlines, as well as information on past NC State winners.
For a more comprehensive catalog of awards, review the lists created by the National Research Council (NRC). The NRC collects and ranks awards for the arts and humanities, social sciences, physical sciences and engineering and the life sciences. Included in the lists are research awards, fellowships, memberships in honorary societies and teaching awards. Those awards that the NRC designates as prestigious and highly prestigious factor into institutional rankings.
