Internal Awards
For many years, NC State has recognized faculty through a variety of awards and recognitions. The University Awards and Events Coordinator, Sherry Bailey, can assist with questions about the nomination and application process for any of the following internal awards:
- Alexander Quarles Holladay Medal for Excellence
- Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor Award
- Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching
- Provost’s Award for Excellence in Teaching
- Gertrude Cox Award for Innovative Excellence in Teaching and Learning with Technology

The Professors of Distinction program is managed by Associate Vice Provost for Academic Personnel and Policy Kim Grainger.
External Awards
The Director of External Faculty Awards and Recognition facilitates NC State faculty nominations and applications to external awards. All faculty who are interested in applying to an award can reach out to the Director for help with any of the following:
- Strategically identifying awards
- Offering insight based on analysis and tracking of awards
- Writing support: pre-writing, drafting, editing, and document design
- Managing applications, nominations, and reference letters
- Answering questions regarding awards and fellowships
- Recognizing and publicizing your accomplishments to a wider audience
