RED Teaching Toolkit
The Office for Faculty Excellence’s RED Teaching Toolkit is designed to provide faculty with pedagogical tools and information that can support their teaching endeavors. The sessions are presented by OFE Faculty Fellows and staff.
For each session the presenter will cover a topic of pedagogical relevance, usually connected to one of OFE’s RED Certifications, and encourage conversation around the topic with attendees. All sessions will be facilitated by Maria Gallardo-Williams.
By participating, faculty will:
- Have the opportunity to learn about a pedagogical strategy or tool of relevance to their own teaching.
- Be provided with resources to learn more about the subjects being discussed.
- Build professional and social connections with other faculty.

CATs for Everyone: New Approaches to Classroom Assessment Techniques
Thursday, January 29 at 1-2 p.m. via Zoom
Classroom Assessment Techniques (CATs) are essential for gauging student comprehension and perception, yet their traditional application often feels rigid or difficult to adapt to diverse subjects. Many educators hesitate to use them, fearing “incorrect” implementation or a lack of fit for their specific course. It’s time to move beyond these inflexible structures and embrace a more dynamic approach. In this interactive workshop we invite you to rethink and reimagine your assessment toolkit.
What you will gain:
- Creative Modifications: Collaborate with peers to adapt classic CATs using Artificial Intelligence (AI), real-world examples, and team-based activities.
- Tech-Forward Strategies: Discover how technology can streamline feedback generation and automate data analysis to save you time.
- Personalized Toolkits: Leave with practical, flexible strategies designed to meet the evolving needs of your students and your specific learning environment.
- By shifting the focus from rigid adherence to creative transformation, you will leave with a renewed perspective on how assessment can drive meaningful, student-centered learning.
