Applications Open: |RED| Inclusive Teaching Certification

Faculty, postdocs, and teaching graduate students are invited to apply for the Spring 2020 online cohort of the Inclusive Teaching Certification |ITC|. This comprehensive, asynchronous Certification is a collaborative professional development project among NC State University’s Disability Services, DELTA, experienced faculty, GLBT Center, Graduate School, Office of Faculty Development, Office of Global Engagement, Office of Institutional Equity & Diversity (OIED), and Office of Information Technology.

Accepted participants will:

  • Consider multiple facets of inclusive teaching, encompassing the creation of a welcoming, equitable course climate, the design and implementation of accessible and inclusive classroom practices and assessments, and the selection and implementation of inclusive, diverse course content;
  • Engage with key concepts in inclusive teaching and learn from various stakeholders on our campus and other institutions of higher education who share their important research on student development, Universal Design for Learning, intercultural competence, and intrapersonal awareness; and
  • Develop the resources for applying inclusive course pedagogical practices that support all learners.

Participants complete foundational activities, one elected learning module, and learning reflections in each five core competencies:

2020 Outreach and Engagement Incentive Grants Program RFP

The Office of Outreach and Engagement is pleased to announce the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Outreach and Engagement (O&E) Incentive Grants Program.

Review RFP Requirements

The O&E Incentive Grants Program seeks to align interdisciplinary faculty, their expertise, their students, and their research work to address significant community challenges in Wake County. This effort also supports student engagement through faculty and community collaborations.

Proposals may be submitted by any NC State faculty member or EHRA staff who is eligible to submit a proposal to an external funding agency. Awards can be up to $10,000 per project and will become available in May 2020. The maximum number of awards for the Spring 2020 competition is three (3). The funds would be available for use until the end of June 2021.

Proposals for funding should be submitted to Samantha Graham, Innovative Engagement Program Manager, by email, no later than 5:00 PM, on March 27, 2020. Selections will be announced by April 17, 2020.

2020 Faculty Three Minute Research Talk Competition

Go head-to-head with your colleagues across campus in a competitive 3-minute talk that showcases your research for a public audience. Win cash prizes and NC State’s Faculty 3MRT Wolf Trophy.

The Graduate School’s inaugural Faculty Three Minute Research Talk (3MRT) contest will take place Monday, April 6, 3-5 p.m. in Hunt Library’s Duke Energy Hall.

3MRT is an opportunity to explain your research project in just 3 minutes using nontechnical language and just one visual slide. 3MRT competitors have the opportunity to compete for cash prizes and the honor of being NC State’s first-ever faculty 3MRT winner!

In addition, all competitors will receive a professionally-edited video of their performance for promotional uses. 3MRT is a fun way to increase the visibility of your lab with the NC State Wolfpack and beyond.
