Bio

Aranya Chakrabortty is a Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at NC State. His research interests are in the broad areas of power and energy systems, as well as in control systems, with a special focus on dynamic modeling, stability analysis, and control of power grids with large penetration of wind, solar, energy storage, and electric vehicles. From 2020 to 2024, Aranya served as a program director in the Electrical, Communications, and Cyber Systems (ECCS) division in the Engineering Directorate at the US National Science Foundation (NSF), where he managed a variety of programs on climate change, clean energy, cyber-physical systems, and electrified transportation. He is currently interested in collaborating with climate scientists to explore ways for integrating both macro- and micro-scale weather models with power system planning, operations, resilience, and control.
