Institutional Effectiveness
We guide the academic community through the processes and procedures that help to ensure NC State’s continued excellence.
About Institutional Effectiveness
Institutional Effectiveness (IE) ensures the quality and integrity of an NC State education for all undergraduate and graduate students. Through leadership in assessment, accreditation and strategic planning, IE supports institutional accountability, academic excellence and continuous improvement.
Our guidance in the assessment process fosters a culture of evidence-based decision-making and ensures that all academic and administrative units—especially academic programs—are evaluating and achieving meaningful outcomes.
By coordinating accreditation efforts and aligning planning processes with university goals, we help demonstrate NC State’s progress and commitment to excellence to accrediting bodies, stakeholders and the broader community. IE’s work is essential to advancing the university’s strategic vision and long-term success.
Mission
Institutional Effectiveness (IE) supports and advances campuswide efforts in assessment, accreditation and strategic planning. IE leads academic and administrative outcomes assessment, collaborates with university stakeholders to coordinate comprehensive external program reviews, and oversees data collection and reporting for accreditation, including the facilitation of the institutional substantive change process.
These efforts are guided by NC State’s commitment to continuous improvement, institutional excellence and strategic alignment, as well as compliance with the standards of specialized accreditors and the university’s institutional accrediting body, SACSCOC.
Vision
Institutional Effectiveness will lead and support integrated assessment, accreditation and strategic planning efforts that empower innovative, data-informed decision-making and drive institutional excellence across NC State.
Our Team
Our dedicated team of staff and graduate assistants supports continuous institutional improvement through leadership in assessment, accreditation and strategic planning. We work collaboratively to promote excellence, accountability and alignment with NC State’s mission and goals.
