Time-boxing: New Ideas for Time Management

Join faculty, staff and students as we strive to tame the time-monster and establish a better balance at work and at home. This seminar will help you identify time-wasters, will teach you the concept of time-boxing using an innovative method designed to help you better manage your time, and will enable you to return to work with a better handle on your schedule and your life!

Sullenger, Assistant Director of NC State University’s Technology Training Solutions, will facilitate the seminar. BYO lunch.

O&E Stipends for Community Engaged Scholarship

The Office of Outreach and Engagement is offering stipends for participation in Community Engaged Scholarship activity.

The Office has a limited number of $500 scholarships available to attend any College or Department approved conference or meeting to present or enhance faculty engaged scholarship. Faculty and staff can apply to be reimbursed for activities that will take place from January – June 2019. Preference will be given to faculty who have plans to submit conference proposals.

For approved applications, the Academic Outreach & Entrepreneurship Business Office will arrange to transfer the funds to your department. These funds are state-appropriated and must be expended by fiscal year end. Ensure your application includes a state-appropriated project ID.

Applications should be submitted by February 1st via this form. Approved applicants will be contacted within five working days and funds will be transferred to the applicant’s department.

Opportunities and Challenges of Interdisciplinary Research

The Research Leadership Academy (RLA) is composed of the university’s most outstanding faculty researchers and mentors from diverse fields who promote a culture of research leadership at NC State.

Interdisciplinary research is the hot topic of many research institutions. Have you always wanted to participate in interdisciplinary research, but haven’t known where to start? Have you been curious how interdisciplinary research will factor in to your promotion and tenure? Join the RLA for a Lunch & Learn session on opportunities and challenges of interdisciplinary research. In this Lunch & Learn you learn about interdisciplinary research programs, engaging students in interdisciplinary activities, NC State’s Center and Institutes, and much more.

RFP: Outreach and Engagement (O&E) Incentive Grants Program

The Office of Outreach and Engagement is pleased to announce the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the Outreach and Engagement (O&E) Incentive Grants Program. Find full RFP requirements at https://oe.ncsu.edu/incentivegrants/. The O&E Incentive Grants Program seeks to align interdisciplinary faculty, their expertise, their students, and their research work to address significant community challenges in Wake County.

This effort also supports student engagement through faculty and community collaborations. Proposals for funding should be submitted to Samantha Graham, Innovative Engagement Program Manager, by email, no later than 5 p.m. on March 8. Selections will be announced by April 5.
