Registration ends at noon today (Thursday, December 13) for the Office of Faculty Development’s Spring 2019 Reading Circles.

OFD now provides circles to better meet your schedule and preferences. We offer both face-to-face (in-person) and virtual (online, asynchronous) meetings to discuss the books. Book titles differ based on the type of reading circle meeting.

This spring, choose between two texts for Face-to-Face Reading Circles:

  • Zig Zag: The Surprising Path to Greater Creativity by Keith Sawyer (Jossey-Bass, 2013, 288 pages)

Our Virtual Reading Circle (VRC) texts are:

  • Creating Wicked Students: Designing Courses for a Complex World by Paul Hanstedt (Stylus, 2018, 200 pages)
  • Small Teaching: Everyday Lessons from the Science of Learning by James M. Lang (Jossey-Bass, 2016, 272 pages)

OIED Cultural Intelligence Training

OIED is recruiting participants for the initial session of cultural intelligence training on our campus.  This initial session is offered at no cost to participants. If you have not attended, please feel free to register.  Also, we would like to recruit faculty to participate. Please forward this e-mail to faculty you would recommend.

You are invited to participate in the initial session for cultural intelligence on January 22, 2018, 9:00 am – 12:00 pm.  Cultural Intelligence (CQ) has become recognized as an important component among Multiple Intelligences. As we move forward in an increasingly global and domestic multicultural world, this distinct opportunity will further advance the professional competency of our faculty and staff.  This session will be one offering for faculty and staff to experience as they are introduced to cultural competence.

We hope you will participate in this initial session at no cost and provide feedback. Please register at the link below by December 18, 2018.
