Applications Due Friday: 2022 Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Institute

SOTL 2022Applications are due this Friday, April 15, for 2022 Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Institute (SoTL). The SoTL Institute is a program designed with busy faculty members in mind who would like to explore teaching as a form of scholarly work. It provides NC State faculty with skills, funding, mentorship, and support to conduct research in teaching and learning. Participants will learn about SoTL and discipline-based education research (DBER), as well as design and implement a research project to study teaching and learning in their course or courses.

This is a 1-year commitment that begins with an intensive Virtual Institute held in mid-May. For this year, the dates are Monday, May 9, Wednesday, May 11 and Friday, May 13, 2022.There are 4 follow-up meetings in August 2022, October 2022, January 2023, and April 2023, all held on the last Monday of the month from 3:00-4:00 PM. Participants will present a poster with their findings at the 2023 Teaching and Learning Symposium held at the end of February 2023. Faculty Conversation Series: Three Simple Ways to Bring Scholarship into Your Teaching Practice

Zoom stock imageOFE’s Faculty Conversation Series continues this Thursday with Three Simple Ways to Bring Scholarship into Your Teaching Practice (April 14, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.). Series facilitator Dr. Maria Gallardo-Williams and OFE Faculty Fellow Dr. Zakiya Leggett will talk about how your teaching informs your scholarship, and how you can turn that into published work. Join us for a session filled with tips, inspiration, and information. 

Wanted: Global Leaders for Global Learning for All

Today on Faculty Forum, OFE’s Fulbright Visiting Scholar, Dr. Natalia Timuș, discusses the importance of developing transformative global leaders in order to fulfill the objectives of global learning initiatives and bridge diversity, equity and quality of higher education to prepare graduates to tackle the 21st century’s complex global problems.
