How To Create An Inclusive Classroom (Faculty Conversation Series)

Zoom stock imageThe Office for Faculty Excellence’s Fall Faculty Conversation Series concludes on Nov. 10 (11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) with How To Create An Inclusive Classroom: Facilitator Dr. Maria Gallardo-Williams, OFE SoTL Faculty Fellow, will share some practical considerations to help you become a more inclusive educator, and tips to redesign your courses to be inclusive and accessible for all students.  

Online Lilly Conference Registrations Available

ITLC Lilly logoDELTA and the Office for Faculty Excellence are pleased to announce the purchase of a site license for the ITLC Lilly Online Conference, occurring April 6, 13, 20, and 27, 2022 with asynchronous sessions available through June 2022. The Lilly conference is focused on enhancing online, onsite and hybrid teaching and learning.

Attendees will enjoy 4 full days of conference programming, conveniently scheduled across four Wednesdays to reduce disruption to your teaching schedule. The conference is geared toward faculty and administrators at various stages in their academic careers, representing nearly every discipline found in higher education. Attendees will enjoy a variety of 20-minute and 40-minute asynchronous sessions, traditional plenary addresses, synchronous facilitated discussions, and poster presentations addressing contemporary issues and include proven, innovative pedagogies.

The Call for Proposals is currently open with a deadline of January 15, 2022.

How to Register at No Cost
The NC State site license provides up to 150 free conference registrations for faculty, staff and graduate students using their NC State email addresses. The Office for Faculty Excellence is managing registration for the conference and will gather registration requests and send them to Lilly Online in batches. If you want to attend the conference, complete the registration form. You will receive a confirmation of your registration from the Office of Faculty Development and later from ITLC Lilly Online Conference when we send them the batch registrations.

Remember there is no cost for registration and you can submit a conference proposal before being registered.

NC State Impact Scholars: 2022 Applications Now Open!

The Strengthening The Impact of Research (STIR) program seeks to enhance NC State’s capacity to design and conduct research with broad impacts on society by creating and supporting the first cohort of NC State Impact Scholars. This group of 10-12 selected Impact Scholars will attend a series of five, two hour workshops in Spring 2022 to strengthen their capacity to create innovative research impacts on society and write more competitive grant proposals. Impact Scholars will also design and implement a project of their own, and conduct a Research Impacts workshop in their department. With support from the Office of Outreach and Engagement, Impact Scholars will receive $1,000 to support their project expenses.

Global 3D: UN SDGs Academic Opportunities at NC State

Friday, Nov. 19, 2021 10:00-11:00 a.m.
The Global 3D sessions provide a platform to discuss, discover and develop synergies on specific topics of interest to faculty and staff. This session will offer an introduction to the academic opportunities associated with the United Nation’s sustainable development goals and a chance to weigh in on their development. It will include a brief overview of the SDG course inventory created by Seth Murray and an undergraduate student research team and an introduction to the Academics Working Group of the Sustainability Council and their objectives by Christopher Galik, co-chair of the group.
