Teaching and Learning Symposium Poster Proposals Due January 8

This is a reminder that poster proposals for the 2020 Teaching and Learning Symposium (Friday, February 28, 2020, McKimmon Center) are due Wednesday, January 8. Proposals can deal with a wide variety of topics, including teaching with technology, innovative pedagogical techniques, creativity in teaching and learning, SoTL (Scholarship of Teaching and Learning), Scholarship of Community Engagement projects, inclusive teaching, sustainability in teaching, and more.

Applications Due Friday: Reflective Educational Design |RED| Core Teaching Certification

Applications for the Spring 2020 cohort for the Core Teaching Certification |CTC| will close on Friday, January 10.

The CTC welcomed its first cohort in January 2019 by:

  • providing faculty the opportunity to learn pedagogical skills and information about teaching not necessarily gained during formal training in graduate school, helping them become more scholarly teachers;
  • recognizing faculty for their efforts in becoming more intentional, reflective teachers who incorporate effective practices in teaching in higher education; and
  • affording faculty members the opportunity to meet other faculty members outside their home departments who are dedicated to improving their teaching.

Thirteen faculty have successfully completed Certification this year through the intentional refinement and enhancement of their courses with feedback throughout the reflective course design process.

Faculty participants complete one (1) learning module and reflective activities in five core competencies:

UNCG/NCCC Engaged Scholarship Prize Announcement

The UNCG/NCCC Engaged Scholarship Prize was developed by NC Campus Compact in partnership with Dr. Frank Gilliam, Chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, to grow and promote the scholarship of engagement in North Carolina. The prize will be awarded for the first time in February 2020 during the NC Campus Compact PACE conference and Presidents Forum.

Applicants can win up to $1500 in recognition of their outstanding engaged scholarship. Preference will be given to applicants who can demonstrate sustained commitment to the scholarship of engagement. Faculty members (full-time, part time or adjunct) or full-time graduate students, from an NC Campus Compact institution, are eligible to apply.
