Dr. Shobhan Gaddameedhi is a tenured Associate Professor of the Chancellor’s Faculty Excellence Program at the NC State. He is a co-leader of the Genes, Environment and Precision Health Research Interest Group of the Center for Human Health and the Environment. He received his M.Sc. in Plant Sciences from the University of Hyderabad, India and his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the North Dakota State University (2003-08). He pursued his post-doctoral training in the circadian biology and DNA repair fields with Nobel Laureate Prof. Aziz Sancar from UNC Chapel Hill (2008-14). Before joining NC State in 2020, he started his academic career at Washington State University (WSU) (2014-2020) where he rose from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor with tenure. Dr. Gaddameedhi is a recipient of NIH K99/R00 Career Development Award (2013), DOD Career Development Award (2018), American Society for Photobiology (ASP) New Investigator Award (2018), NIH Outstanding New Environmental Scientist/ONES R01 Award (2020), Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society (EMGS) Education Award (2021) and ASP Service Award (2024). Dr. Gaddameedhi’s main scientific interests are circadian rhythm, sleep, climate change, and environmental health outcomes. Currently, his lab is studying the mechanisms by which circadian clock disruption and climate change influences genomic instability, aging and carcinogenesis outcomes. |
