Bio

Natalie Nelson is an associate professor in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering, where she leads the Coastal and Watershed Analytics Lab. Her team characterizes and models nonpoint source pollution in inland and coastal waters, and takes a watershed-scale approach to studying where and why nonpoint source pollution occurs. With regards to climate-driven impacts, Natalie has ongoing projects investigating water quality hazards associated with high tide flooding driven by sea level rise, changes in freshwater and nutrient delivery to estuaries under projected climate and land use change scenarios, and shifting salinity baselines in coastal waters.
