FROM:
Warwick A. Arden, Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
SUBJECT:
Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure (RPT) Process, 2024-2025
DATE:
May 30, 2024
This memorandum provides notification of the Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure schedule and expectations for the 2024-2025 RPT cycle. Dossiers are to be submitted in RPT Online per the following schedule.
Staggered Deadlines:
January 8, 2025 – Design, Education, Natural Resources, Poole-Management, Wilson-Textiles, Veterinary Medicine, Division of Academic and Student Affairs
January 15, 2025 – Humanities and Social Sciences, Sciences
January 22, 2025 – Agriculture and Life Sciences, Engineering
The process details and all related policies, regulations and rules are available on the RPT website.
Here are important highlights for the 2024-2025 process. First, the COVID Impact Statement is being revised into a broader Major Disruptions Impact Statement. The concept remains the same: faculty members have the option to include within Section I.C., Candidate Statement, information about major disruptions they have experienced that have had a demonstrated impact on their ability to carry out their obligations consistent with their SFR. Second, the requirement for deans and department heads to provide an explanation in their assessments for an “early” action has been removed. For a summary of these changes and reminders please visit the Current Year Details page on the RPT website.
Colleges have received an electronic summary of all the mandatory cases by department. Corrections and any anticipated non-mandatory cases should be added to the summary and returned to Amy Jinnette by August 9, 2024. Additional non-mandatory cases can be added after August 9, as long as the dossiers are complete and uploaded to the website by the college’s deadline.
Thank you for helping us maintain a reappointment, promotion and tenure process that is supportive of faculty excellence. As always, please contact Katharine Stewart (kestewa4@ncsu.edu) or Amy Jinnette (arjinnet@ncsu.edu) in my office with any questions.
