Bio

Eduardo Lorente serves as Vice Provost for Budget and Business Operations at NC State University. In this role, he is responsible for managing all financial operations for the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost, including budget preparation, budget management, budget planning and expenditure monitoring, and budget recommendations to assure financial stability and fiscal health. Additionally, he provides strong leadership, strategic direction and fiscal oversight for the Budget and Business Operations unit.

Previously, Lorente served as associate vice president for budget and planning at the University of Maryland. In this position, he supported university leadership in the development of fiscal policy and strategy, worked closely with divisional leaders to monitor the financial and operational performance of their respective areas, coordinated the preparation of the university budget, directed and managed financial data analysis and reporting, and advised the university’s CFO on personnel and operational matters.

Lorente received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Florida International University. He has earned both the Certified Public Accountant license and Certified Internal Auditor license. He also holds a certificate from the University of Virginia in leadership in academic matters and a certificate from the Institute for Management and Leadership in Education at Harvard University.
