Changes in the Process Since Last Year

2015-2016 Reminders and Changes
1. As a reminder, the signed and dated SME from the personnel file must be scanned and inserted into the dossier in section I.A. The SME must define the percentage of effort in the appropriate realms of faculty responsibility.
2. Based on the recommendation of the Committee on the Evaluation of Teaching, a revised Class Eval RPT Report will be available from the Class Eval system which can more easily be copied into the dossier. The new report will be available by the end of the summer, 2015. Faculty are encouraged to use the new form but it is not required in dossiers until the 2016-17 RPT cycle.

General Information Sessions

Two presentations are scheduled as follows. The presentations with a question and answer period are designed for new tenure track faculty, those who will be entering the RPT cycle, or individuals involved in the RPT process.

  • February 19, 1:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Centennial Campus, Engineering Building I, Room 1011
  • February 24, 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Gardner Hall, Room 2211

Session Offered on Non-Tenure Track Faculty Promotions

This year we are also offering a separate session devoted to the promotion process for non-tenure track (NTT) faculty with professorial rank. Interested NTT faculty, department heads and RPT department and college administrators are encouraged to attend.

Department heads and deans should develop the detailed schedules for the review activities that must occur at the department and college levels consistent with the following schedule:

May, 2015 Release of the 2015-2016 RPT Web Site
August 7, 2015 Submission of adjustments to college summaries (including mandatory and expected non-mandatory candidates)
September 4, 2015 Office of the Provost will provide Dossier Cover Forms to Colleges for each mandatory and expected non-mandatory candidate.

Deans submit dossiers via NC State's Online Tool for Submission of Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure Dossiers. Completed, paper Dossier Cover Forms with original signatures submitted to Amy Jinnette, 201 Holladay Hall.
January 12 - March 17
Materials prepared for university level review

University level review of dossiers

University Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee reviews dossiers as requested by the Provost
By March 18, 2016 University level review completed
By April 1, 2016 Provost consults with each dean with regard to RPT reviews
April 22, 2016 NC State Board of Trustees' Meeting- final approval
By April 30, 2016 Letters sent to Dean's Offices for distribution to candidates.
