Changes in the Process Since Last Year

2013-2014 Reminders and Changes
1. The signed and dated SME from the personnel file should be scanned and inserted into the dossier in section I.A.
2. Department heads must use the template letter to request external review letters, although it may be augmented as needed.
3. The required annotated listing of external evaluators, section VII.B., must indicate who proposed each reviewer, i.e., candidate, departmental voting faculty, department head.

General Information Sessions

Presentations are scheduled as follows. The presentations with a question and answer period are designed for new tenure track faculty, those who will be entering the RPT cycle, or individuals involved in the RPT process.

  • February 5 3:30-5:00 p.m. Erdahl-Cloyd Auditorium, DH Hill Library
  • March 6 3:30-5:00 p.m. Monteith Research Center, Room 136

** Session Offered on Non-Tenure Track Faculty Promotions** We are also offering a separate session devoted to the promotion process for non-tenure track (NTT) faculty with professorial rank. Interested NTT faculty, deans, department heads and RPT departmental and college administrators are encouraged to attend.

  • February 27 from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in Monteith Research Center, Room 136

August 2, 2013 Submission of adjustments to departmental summaries (including mandatory and expected nonmandatory candidates)
August 30, 2013 Office of the Provost will provide Dossier Cover Forms to Colleges for each mandatory and expected nonmandatory candidate.
January 3, 2014 Deadline to add nonmandatory cases

Deans submit dossiers via NC State's Online Tool for Submission of Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure Dossiers. Completed, paper Dossier Cover Forms with original signatures submitted to Amy Jinnette, 201 Holladay Hall.
January 7- February 7, 2014 Materials prepared for university level review.
February 10-March 7, 2014
University level review of dossiers

University Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure Committee reviews dossiers as requested by the Provost
By March 14, 2014 University level review completed
By April 1, 2014 Provost consults with each dean with regard to RPT reviews
April 25, 2014 NC State Board of Trustees' Meeting- final approval
By May 1, 2014 Letters sent to Dean's Offices for distribution to candidates.
