NC State’s 2020 Martin Luther King, Jr. Campus Commemoration will bring National Book Award Winner Ibram X. Kendi to campus. Kendi is professor and founding director of the Antiracist Research and Policy Center at American University. The talk is open to students, faculty and staff.
The Proposal Development Unit invites the NC State community to this seminar series to learn more about the National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants program. The NIH Opportunities for New Investigators seminar will cover NIH training and career development mechanisms, NIH’s Next Generation of Researchers Initiative, and some Institute-specific opportunities. Do you struggle to keep writing projects moving during the busy semester? The Office of Faculty Development has partnered with NC State University Libraries to offer Faculty Writing Retreats for tenure and non-tenure track faculty. Our 2019-20 Retreats will be held in the Faculty Research Commons spaces at James B. Hunt Jr. Library (Centennial Campus). Space will be limited for each retreat, so please sign up early if interested.
If we had unlimited access to high speed Internet, what opportunities would that connection provide for our communities? How can we start planning to make sure that all North Carolinians benefit? At the ReCONNECT to Technological Opportunity Forum, participants will explore what their communities can do to leverage high speed internet in an equitable way. The forum is organized by the Institute for Emerging Issues.

Every spring, the Provost's Office offers general information meetings on the NC State reappointment, promotion and tenure (RPT) process. These sessions are designed for new faculty, those who will be entering the RPT cycle, or individuals involved in the RPT process.
The Office of Faculty Development cordially invites NC State faculty and staff to attend this one-day event. The keynote speaker will be be Dr. Thomas J. Tobin, co-author of Reach Everyone, Teach Everyone: Universal Design for Learning in Higher Education, our Fall 2019 Reading Circle selection. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in interactive sessions led by NC State faculty, and meet and talk with peers who are interested in teaching and learning.
