Dallas Herring Lecture – “Community College 3.0: What’s Next for the Student Success Agenda?”

Joshua Wyner, vice president and executive director of the College Excellence Program at The Aspen Institute, a nonpartisan forum for values-based leadership and the exchange of ideas, will speak. Response to the Dallas Herring Lecture will be provided by Dr. Jimmie Williamson, President of the NC Community College System.

Red, White & Black Walking Tour

Come learn about the spaces and places on NC State’s campus that have had significant impact on the lives and experiences of African American students, faculty, and the larger community. The walk will begin on the quad side of Holladay Hall and conclude with refreshments and reflection at the Witherspoon Student Center. Please wear comfortable walking shoes. This program is a collaboration between the NCSU Libraries, the African American Cultural Center, and Africana Studies.

Student Short Film Showcase

Don’t miss this annual audience favorite as NC State students screen their best short animated and experimental films -- all under 4 minutes long and ranging from lighthearted, to suspenseful to experimental. Students will be on hand to discuss their work. Co-presented by the NCSU Libraries, the Department of Communication, and the Art+Design Department.

Developing Cultural Acumen

This training, offered by the Global Training Initiative, is intended for professionals who want to examine their own cultural preferences and learn to apply a systematic approach to navigating cultural differences. Register by Nov. 28: $25 for faculty and staff, $50 for the general public. Participants will receive a custom, individualized assessment as well as a one-year subscription to Berlitz's Cultural Navigator as part of their registration fee (a $99 value).
