Benefits for educators (instructors and institutions)

  • Improved Outcomes: Provide tangible evidence of skills gained, enhancing graduate employability.
  • Expanded Reach: Attract non-traditional learners, working adults, and lifelong learners.
  • Revenue Generation: New streams through short, modular offerings.
  • Curriculum Innovation: Opportunities to update and experiment with new content and formats.
  • Industry Collaboration: Strengthen ties with industry by offering skills-based credentials.

Digital Credentials

Work across campus to identify and select a standard microcredential badging platform is ongoing. Participate in the Microcredential Community of Practice to receive updates and provide feedback on a future microcredential platform.

Currently, units throughout NC State are individually responsible for creating and managing digital badge development while adhering to the NC State badging format.
