After leading NC State’s College of Education since 2016, Dean Mary Ann Danowitz will return to the college’s faculty in the Department of Educational Leadership, Policy and Human Development, effective Oct. 5, 2021.

NC State Honors Exceptional Faculty

The Celebration of Faculty Excellence is held each spring to recognize outstanding faculty who have received prestigious state, national and international awards, accolades or other distinctions during the previous year. In 2021, NC State honored 29 faculty virtually since the annual event could not be held in person.

Donna Petherbridge Named Interim Vice Provost for DELTA

Donna Petherbridge, associate vice provost for academic technology innovation, will serve as interim vice provost for Distance Educations and Learning Technology Applications (DELTA), effective July 1, 2021. Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Warwick Arden made the appointment. She will replace Tom Miller, who is stepping back from his leadership of DELTA.

Debbie Acker Named Interim Director of the Shelton Leadership Center

Debbie Acker, senior associate director for operations and academic programs at the Shelton Leadership Center (SLC), has been named the center’s interim director, effective May 1, 2021. She will replace Barbara Mulkey, current SLC director, who is retiring.

2 National Teaching Award Semifinalists Are From NC State

Two of nine semifinalists for the Robert Foster Cherry Award for Great Teaching hail from NC State. Laura Bottomley and Hollylynne Lee were semifinalists for the national award, and Lee is now one of three finalists.
