Once this year’s graduating class turns their tassels at commencement on May 12, the university will have conferred 9,314 degrees for 2017-18. Faculty and staff have also been recognized for a wide array of achievements this academic year.
Ready for a Global Impact
More than 500 international students representing approximately 40 countries will graduate this semester. Each graduate’s unique international experience and perspective continues to shape the university and help make it a more inclusive, welcoming place for students of all nationalities.

Staff Chat: Carl Hollifield
Carl Hollifield came to NC State from Asheville in 1997 to study agricultural business management, earning his degree in 2001. Twenty years after his arrival, he’s now one of the staff members responsible for bringing Howling Cow to ice cream lovers at NC State and around the greater Triangle area.

Four Faculty Win Holladay Medal
Chancellor Randy Woodson presents four faculty members with the university’s highest honor. The Holladay Medal recognizes outstanding achievement and sustained impact in research, teaching or extension and engagement.
NC State Recognizes Exceptional Faculty
NC State recognized over two dozen faculty members for their dedication to teaching, research and engagement during the 2018 Celebration of Faculty Excellence on May 1. The annual event honors faculty who have won prestigious state, national and international awards and created new knowledge and advancements in their respective disciplines.

April 27 marks the last day of classes for the 2017-2018 academic year. NC State's colleges continue to rise in national rankings due to faculty and staff members' tireless pursuit of educational excellence.
2017-2018 University Teaching Awards Presented
NC State recognized more than 30 faculty for their dedication to teaching, mentoring and innovation at the 2017-2018 University Teaching Awards Ceremony on April 4. Melissa A. Pasquinelli received the University of North Carolina Board of Governors Award for Excellence in Teaching.
