Faculty Travel Awards

Faculty travel awards support international or domestic travel that advances global One Health-related research or education efforts. Award amounts are available up to $2,500 for domestic travel and up to $5,000 for international travel.

One Health is a collaborative research framework that recognizes the interconnectedness of the health of humans, animals, plants, and the environment. It brings together scientists and practitioners from diverse disciplines to work toward improving the health of these systems simultaneously, from local to global scales. To advance research and professional development opportunities for faculty working on global challenges through a One Health approach, we are pleased to offer the Global One Health Academy Faculty Travel Award.

This travel award will support 5-7 faculty this year for international or domestic travel that advances their global One Health-related research or education efforts. Awards may be used to fund travel for active research efforts, to include data collection, data analysis, cultivation of partnerships, or other activities in pursuit of interdisciplinary research. Travel for conferences is allowable if it will be leveraged to facilitate new partnerships or meaningfully advance research. Awards may also be used to fund travel in support of educational initiatives, to include planning for a new study abroad course, developing new partnerships for project-based opportunities, or other activities in pursuit of experiential, globally engaged learning at the undergraduate or graduate level. Award amounts are available up to $2,500 for domestic travel and up to $5,000 for international travel occurring January through June 2024.

To be eligible for this award, the applicant must be a faculty member (tenure or professional track) at NC State with One Health research or education that aligns with one or more of the Global One Health Academy thematic areas: driving food and water solutions, combating infectious diseases, and/or addressing climate change and health disparities. All applicants must be GOHA Affiliate Members.
