Bio

Dr. Jennifer Runkle is a trained environmental epidemiologist who serves as a research scientist at NC State’s North Carolina Institute for Climate Studies (NCICS) and the Cooperative Institute for Satellite Earth System Studies (CISESS) within the academic arm of NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information. She is a co-lead director of a new NOAA Climate Adaptation Partnership center at NC State, the Carolinas Collaborative on Climate, Health, and Equity, focused on climate resilience in at-risk communities. Her research examines the direct and unequal health impacts of the climate crisis in priority populations. Much of her research focuses on turning data into action to inform targeted interventions, health equity strategies, and policies to protect the health and well-being of pregnant and pediatric populations.
