Catalyzing Coastal Change
NC State’s Coastal Resilience and Sustainability Initiative seeks to create a more resilient and sustainable future for coastal communities across North Carolina – and around the world. Through an interdisciplinary team of experts, the initiative will work toward actionable solutions that address issues such as climate change and focus on natural ecosystems, coastal plain communities, and rural and agricultural economies for a more sustainable future.
He and Mueller Selected to Develop Climate Leadership Program
The Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology & Science (KIETS) at NC State and the NC State Coastal Resilience and Sustainability Initiative are pleased to announce the selection of Ruoying (Roy) He and Amanda Mueller to lead the development of the KIETS Climate Leaders Program.
Study Finds Ghost Forest ‘Tree Farts’ Contribute to Greenhouse Gas Emissions
A new NC State study finds that greenhouse gas emissions from standing dead trees in coastal wetland forests – colloquially called “tree farts” – need to be accounted for when assessing the environmental impact of so-called “ghost forests.”
K.C. Busch Awarded $1.1 Million NSF CAREER Grant
Busch will be able to develop a theory and test metrics for measuring community-level science learning through social networks thanks to a recently awarded $1,103,218 CAREER grant.
