Kwesi Craig Brookins Named 2018-19 ACE Fellow

The American Council on Education (ACE) announced that Kwesi Craig Brookins, associate professor in the Department of Psychology with an appointment in Africana Studies, has been named an ACE Fellow for the 2018-19 academic year. Brookins will spend the next year at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) learning more about community engagement, the Scholarship of Engagement, and how anchor institutions in urban areas effectively collaborate with local communities.

Vice Provost for Continuing Education Alice Warren to Retire

Alice Warren, vice provost for continuing education, has announced that she is retiring this fall, effective October 1. Warren has spent the past 39 years in various capacities at NC State and the McKimmon Center for Extension and Continuing Education.

This fall, more than 4,800 first-time, first year students, 1,300 transfer students, 2,200 master’s and 525 doctoral students, and 100 Agricultural Institute students will call the university home.

Bringing Invisible Worlds to Light

NC State’s recent “Invisible Worlds: Bringing the Unseen Into Focus” exhibit in downtown Raleigh showcased digital games and walking through tunnels of light — all in the name of teaching new scientific concepts. The collaboration between the College of Design and College of Sciences featured the work of both faculty and students.
