October 2023 Provost’s Corner

Provost Warwick Arden

Dear faculty and staff,

We’re midway through the fall semester, with a successful first few months of the academic year behind us and plenty of activity ahead. I hope that you’ve all had some time to enjoy the cooler weather.

Soon, we’ll kick off Red and White Week, taking place Oct. 22-28. This is a time for faculty, staff, students, alumni and friends to reconnect and celebrate all that we love about NC State. The week includes Pack Appreciation Day, Wear Red, Get Fed events, a homecoming parade and football game against Clemson.

I hope that you will take time to attend the Chancellor’s Fall Address on October 23 at 1 p.m. in Talley Student Union. Chancellor Woodson will speak about the past 12 months and share NC State’s bold plans for the future.

Additionally, I encourage you to browse the rest of this month’s newsletter, which includes a look at our wonderful Provost’s Professional Experience Program students and an article about efforts to improve our approach to mental health on campus.

We also have two five-year reviews for deans and vice provosts coming up. This includes a review for Senior Vice Provost and Director Greg Raschke and the NC State University Libraries on Wednesday, Nov. 1, from 9 – 10 a.m. and for Stephen P. Zelnak Jr. Dean Frank Buckless and the Poole College of Management on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. There will be both in-person and virtual options available for this presentation.

Thank you so much for all you’ve done for our Wolfpack community so far this semester. I look forward to working alongside you to continue our progress throughout the year.

If you’d like to know more about all of the academic happenings subscribe to our newsletter and follow @NCStateProvost on X (formerly Twitter).

Until next time,
Warwick Arden
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
