November 2022 Provost’s Corner

Provost Warwick Arden

Dear faculty and staff,

As we begin to close out the fall semester, I want to recognize what a difficult time this has been for our Wolfpack community. Recent losses have touched us all, and it is essential that we come together to care for and support each other.

We recently held a Wellness Day on November 3, to encourage our faculty, staff and students to take a step back, reflect on their own wellbeing, and check in with one another. We have also launched a Mental Health Task Force to identify areas of greatest need related to wellbeing and how to build a stronger network of support for our students. Findings from the task force will be available in late January.

We’re also in the midst of International Education Month, a time where we recognize NC State’s global connections on campus and around the world. The Office of Global Engagement fosters those connections in the many ways they serve our Wolfpack community at home and abroad. Part of the office’s innovative educational efforts includes the Collaborative Online International Learning, which you can read more about in this month’s newsletter. I also encourage you to check out some of the many international events and activities taking place at NC State throughout the month.

In addition to all the recent activity on campus, we’re gearing up for exams and fall commencement. I hope that you all are able to take a break soon to rest and relax before the final push to the end of the fall semester. I send my best wishes to you and all of your friends and loved ones this time of year.
