Bio

Dr. Williams holds a PhD in Economics from Texas Tech University (TTU), with additional degrees from North Carolina State University (MR – Economics) and Emory University (BA – Economics). He is currently Associate Professor of Economics and Public Policy, and Associate Dean for Faculty, at the Texas Tech University School of Veterinary Medicine.

An applied economist, Dr. Williams’ research has focused on the water-energy-food nexus and environmental health. He co-led the development of the One Health Sciences PhD program at TTU, currently advises three doctoral candidates (animal health economics, health education programming, and wildlife parasitology), and is an Instructor of Applied One Health and Public Policy. He also serves on the steering committee for the TTU System Institute for One Health Innovation.

More recently, his work has transitioned to herd health management, food safety, antimicrobial resistance, and household behavior related to health information. His interest in interdisciplinary research has resulted in collaborative projects with psychologists, engineers, epidemiologists, animal nutritionists, and veterinarians. He has been invited to share his expertise at Sultan Qaboos University and University of Nizwa in the Sultanate of Oman, and Huazhong Agricultural University in the People’s Republic of China
