Bio

Dr Yakhya Dieye obtained his PhD in Molecular Genetics in 2002 at the University Paris-Sud, Orsay, France. After this, Dr Dieye held postdoctoral positions in the USA at the Ohio State University and at the Arizona State University. Dr Dieye worked also as a Senior Scientist at Ondek Pty Ltd an Australian start-up company from 2009 to 2013. Following this experience in the industrial sector, Dr Dieye held a Visiting Senior Research Fellow position at the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia before returning in 2015 to his native country, Senegal. Dr Dieye is currently a faculty at the University Cheikh Anta Diop and the Head of the Pole of Microbiology at the Institut Pasteur de Dakar. Dr Dieye’s research interests include antimicrobial resistance, bacterial genomics, bacterial pathogenesis, and the impact of the microbiota on infectious diseases.
