Call for applications: Seed Grants and Faculty Travel Awards

The Global One Health Academy aims to catalyze innovative research and global collaborations at the intersection of human, animal, plant, and environmental health. In support of this goal, we’re pleased to announce two new funding opportunities to support interdisciplinary One Health research activities.

Seed Grants

Seed grants of up to $50,000 are available to support novel, interdisciplinary One Health research projects aligned with any of three priority areas: combating infectious diseases, driving food and water solutions, and addressing climate change and health disparities. Proposals are intended to support new projects and collaborations, or extensions of existing projects that represent new directions into One Health research. We welcome research proposals stemming from all disciplines, including the natural sciences, veterinary medicine, engineering, social sciences, education, and policy.

General activities supported by GOHA Seed Grants:

  • Collection and analysis of data
  • Hiring a common graduate or undergraduate student
  • Organizing and holding research-focused workshops, seminars, or symposia
  • Working groups that support idea generation, white papers, review articles, or grant proposals

All proposals must include at least one PI that is a GOHA Affiliate Member. Proposals must be received by Wednesday, December 20th, 2023. Award notifications are anticipated in early January, with an award start date of January 15th, 2024. All funds must be spent by June 30th, 2024.

Faculty Travel Awards

Faculty travel awards support international or domestic travel that advances global One Health-related research or education efforts. Awards may be used to fund travel for active research efforts, educational initiatives, or other travel that will be leveraged to facilitate new partnerships or meaningfully advance research. Award amounts are available up to $2,500 for domestic travel and up to $5,000 for international travel.

Applications are now being accepted for travel occurring through June 30th, 2024. We welcome applications from tenure or professional track faculty members at NC State with One Health research or education that aligns with one or more of the Global One Health Academy thematic areas: driving food and water solutions, combating infectious diseases, and/or addressing climate change and health disparities.

All applicants must be GOHA Affiliate Members. Applications are encouraged to be submitted prior to the priority deadline of Wednesday, January 10th, 2024, but will be accepted on a rolling basis through the final deadline of 11:59pm on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024.
