Nominations Open for Honorary Degrees

At NC State, honorary degrees recognize individuals whose achievements are extraordinary and have lasting distinction. Usual degree requirements for an academic degree are waived to bestow honors on those who have made exceptional contributions to a specific field or to society in general.

A Celebration of Collaboration

2018 marks the 50th anniversary of Cooperating Raleigh Colleges, a nonprofit promoting higher education collaboration in Raleigh and throughout Wake County. The six member institutions — Meredith College, NC State University, William Peace University, Saint Augustine’s University, Shaw University and Wake Technical Community College — bring students, faculty and staff together to foster creativity and problem solving to benefit campuses and the community at large.

Symposium Welcomes First-Year Students, Builds Community

More than 135 students participated in the 2018 Symposium for Multicultural Scholars. The symposium is held each fall, the week before classes start, and provides an opportunity for incoming first-year students from traditionally underserved backgrounds to connect with campus.

Chip Futrell Named Interim Vice Provost for Continuing Education

Chip Futrell, director of continuing and professional education at NC State’s McKimmon Center for Extension and Continuing Education, will serve as Interim Vice Provost for Continuing Education, effective October 1, 2018. Futrell will replace Alice Warren, current vice provost for continuing education, who is retiring.
