3D Memo: Travel Exception Process and Required Approvals During COVID-19 Impacted Operations

University travel remains restricted due to UNC System directives and public health concerns. All travel is considered an exception and must be approved by the Chancellor or the Chancellor’s designees. Travel exception approvals are required before travel occurs, and for reimbursement of any travel expenses.

3D Memo: Revisions to the 2020 University Holiday Calendar

As a result of the changes to the fall 2020 semester calendar, the university has revised the 2020 university holiday calendar. The university will be open on Labor Day (Sept. 7, 2020), and classes will be in session on that day. As a result of this change, the Labor Day holiday has been added to the 2020 winter break.

3D Memo: COVID-19 Related Workplace Safety Expectations and Approvals

Safety measures – such as face coverings, physical distancing of at least six feet, and hand sanitation – are expected when employees are on campus. In certain areas and circumstances, more specific requirements may be approved. Any requests for personal protective equipment (PPE) or other safety requirements that go beyond the expected protocols outlined in the Return to Work guide and associated websites must be submitted for review and approval.

NC State is moving forward with a phased reactivation plan for critical operations and activities in adherence with the Governor’s Phase 1 mandate. Our top priority in all decisions is the health, safety and well-being of our Wolfpack community. NC State will follow all state orders and UNC System guidance, as well as CDC guidelines to help ensure a safe on-campus environment.

3D Memo: Families First Coronavirus Response Act and Paid Administrative Leave

The federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) was enacted in March 2020 to address the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the U.S. The FFCRA went into effect April 1, 2020, and is set to remain in effect until December 31, 2020. The act provides two types of leave: emergency paid sick leave and expanded family medical leave.

3D Memo: Important Update: COVID-19 Special Faculty and Staff Leave Provisions

New leave provisions authorized by the interim president of the University of North Carolina System in response to the COVID-19 event will take effect April 1 and remain in effect through April 30. The new provisions supersede all regular policies and are subject to modification or discontinuation by the interim president at any time based on COVID-19 developments, executive orders and the operational needs of the university.

3D Memo: Important Update: Suspension of All Nonessential Human Resources Actions

In light of current circumstances focusing the university’s attention on the COVID-19 response, the UNC System Office is temporarily suspending the following nonessential human resources activities: salary adjustments; position actions, including creating new positions or modifications to existing positions; and new hires. Exceptions may be granted under certain circumstances. New hires.

In this memo, VC Vouk and Provost Arden inform all faculty conducting research/scholarship projects that the university is taking steps to significantly reduce research and scholarship activity on campus. Most research labs and facilities will need to be closed no later than March 20, 2020.
