May 2024 Provost’s Corner
Dear faculty and staff,
We have now concluded the 2023-24 academic year, and I want to thank each one of you for making NC State an outstanding place for learning and innovation. In addition to your students and colleagues, the newest members of our growing alumni community also have you to thank for supporting their journey to success.
This past Saturday, we celebrated the class of 2024 in our spring commencement ceremony at PNC Arena. There, we conferred 6,994 degrees. This includes 61 associate, 4,935 bachelor’s, 1,659 master’s, and 339 doctoral degrees. With the 3,283 degrees conferred last December, NC State awarded a total of 10,277 degrees in the 2023-24 academic year.
We also honored many of our outstanding faculty during the thirteenth annual Celebration of Faculty Excellence on April 30. This included four faculty who received the Alexander Quarles Holladay Medal for Excellence, NC State’s highest award for faculty achievement.
Of course, we’re continuing to celebrate with Employee Appreciation Week this week. You can find more information on the rest of the week’s activities here.
Soon, campus will be buzzing once again with the sights and sounds of summer, including camps and classes, New Student Orientation and much more. I hope that during this season, you can take time to rest, relax and enjoy hobbies, travel or other pursuits — you’ve certainly earned it. Happy summer to each one of you and I look forward to seeing you all again soon.
