February 2024 Provost’s Corner

Warwick Arden

Dear faculty and staff,

Yesterday, we observed a campuswide Wellness Day for spring 2023. No classes were held and a variety of activities were planned to promote a holistic approach to wellness for faculty, staff and students. I encourage you to continue to care for yourself and others in the spirit of this day throughout the rest of the semester.

In February we also recognize Black History Month, where we honor the myriad ways in which Black Americans and those of the African diaspora shaped and continue to shape our country. This year’s theme is “Divine Hands: An Exploration of Black Spirituality, Healing, and the Arts,” which explores “the interplay between wellness and spirituality, embracing the expressive arts as a powerful conduit.” You can find more information and a full calendar of events here.

Honorary degrees represent NC State’s highest recognition of outstanding contributions to academic, professional or civic society that create a model for others to emulate and reflect the mission and vision of the university. If you know of someone who would be a great fit for an honorary degree, read our article in this month’s newsletter and visit the provided link to make a submission.

Thank you for your involvement in the life of our campus, and for being a valued member of the Wolfpack family. Let’s keep our momentum going throughout the spring.

Until next time,
Warwick Arden
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
