January 2024 Provost’s Corner

Warwick Arden

Dear faculty and staff,

Welcome to a new semester! I hope that you all had a fulfilling winter break with time for rest, relaxation and opportunities to plan for the new year.

We jumped right into 2024 with Winter Welcome Week, where we welcomed many new first-time, first-year and transfer students to NC State. If you see someone new around campus, be sure to help them feel at home as part of our Wolfpack family.

We’re also in the middle of our annual MLK Campus Commemoration, celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year’s theme is Persistence: A Roadmap to Equity, Freedom and Justice. Learn more about this week’s activities and community events here.

As I shared with you last week, the Black Faculty Retention and Success Task Force report is now available. You can also read more about the report in this month’s newsletter.

Additionally, I wanted to ask you to take a moment to fill out the University Standing Committee Survey, which is available online now through Jan. 29 at 5 p.m. This is a great way to provide leadership with feedback to help determine NC State’s direction for the future.

Thank you for getting us off to a great start to the second half of our academic year. I look forward to all that the new year brings to faculty, staff and students.

Until next time,
Warwick Arden
Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost
