Research
The Global One Health Academy brings together interdisciplinary teams to address complex challenges at the interface of human, animal, plant, and environmental health.
Driving innovative One Health solutions
One Health is a powerful framework that recognizes the interconnected nature of human, animal, plant, and environmental health. By integrating across multiple disciplinary perspectives and sectors, One Health can be applied to address many of society’s most pressing challenges – at both local and global scales.
The Global One Health Academy catalyzes interdisciplinary research at the human-animal-plant-environment interface. The academy’s signature research initiative, the Grand Challenges Addressing Program (GCAP), provides dedicated resources to mobilize research efforts in key areas and leverage the full spectrum of NC State’s expertise to forge innovative solutions. The academy also supports broader research efforts that align with three thematic areas: driving food and water solutions, combating infectious diseases, and addressing climate change and health disparities.
Funding Outcomes
The Global One Health Academy has a variety of mechanisms to support One Health research at the student, postdoctoral, and faculty and staff levels. Mechanisms include funding opportunities such as seed grants, travel awards, fellowships, and scholarships, and more general support such as identification of potential collaborators, interdisciplinary workshops for idea generation, and provision of topical expertise.
