Bio

Dr. Volpe is an applied health psychologist focusing on structural determinants of health, psychosocial stress, risk of disease, and health equity for Black individuals across the African diaspora. With developmental, social, and cultural psychology training, she examines cardiovascular disease risk in young adulthood, stress-related health behaviors such as sleep and eating, layperson perceptions of health disparities, and healthcare access and quality. She has a particular focus on online and technological contexts that pose health risks and opportunities for marginalized racial/ethnic and gender groups. She teaches Health Psychology courses at NC State.
