Bio

Dr Russel Chidya is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Water and Sanitation under the Faculty of Environment Sciences at Mzuzu University, Malawi. He teaches and supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students’ research projects in various fields including Climate change and Adaptation, Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Waste and Faecal Sludge Management, WASH and Disease Control, Sanitation and Sustainable Development, Sanitation and Public Health, Analysis of Sanitation Flows, Sanitation Technology, Emergency Sanitation, Sanitation Systems and Services. His research also covers areas of public health and combating diseases. I am a passionate scientist dedicated to the promotion of food and water solutions, research, education, combating infectious diseases and engagement to foster changes in leadership, policy and entrepreneurship. As an experienced academician and researcher, he is geared to address climate change and health disparities for the betterment of our lives and a sustainable environment.

He has trained students and professionals who hold key positions in Government, Academics, NGOs, and CSOs institutions. He has also worked with several international and international organizations and Universities including UNICEF, USAID, UNDP, Water for People, WaterAid, World Vision Malawi, Catholic Relief Services, Malawi Red Cross Society, Habitat for Humanity, UNESCO-IHE, University of Malawi, University of Zimbabwe, Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mzuzu University, Hiroshima University, University of The Western Cape-SA, and University of Strathclyde (UK). He is a reviewer and member of several bodies including Sanitation and Water for All (SWA), WaterNet, WESNET, and JPCE.
