Rudra Dutta
Bio
Rudra Dutta received his Bachelor’s and Master’s in Engineering degrees from premier institutions in India, and his PhD from NC State University. He also worked for IBM for five years prior to his academic career. Since 2001, he has been a member of the faculty of the Computer Science department at NC State University, and has been serving as Associate Department Head since 2018. He is a Distinguished Member (Distinguished Engineer) of the Association for Computing Machinery, and Senior Member of the Institution of Electronics and Electrical Engineers. His research and teaching interests center around computer and communications networks, including Internet of Things and Cyber-Physical Systems. He is one of the PIs of the AERPAW research testbed at NC State that integrates programmable wireless and drones as user-programmable resources, one of the four nationwide research platforms funded by NSF under the Platforms for Advanced Wireless Research program. He has collaborated internationally in service as well as research; he was one of the original founding team of the IEEE ANTS conference that was the first IEEE portfolio conference on networking in India, he was the US PI for a joint Japan-US funded research project on optical network control, and he has ongoing research collaborations on ORAN and cyber-physical systems with researchers from the Indian Institute of Science, one of his alma maters.
