Bio

Rima Shrestha is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and Research Services of the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria. She is an epidemiologist trained in infectious diseases, molecular epidemiology, antimicrobial resistance, One Health, and disease preparedness and surveillance. Dr Shrestha received an MSc from Utrecht University of the Netherlands and earned her PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health from Massey University, New Zealand. She has wide experience in data mining and modeling, qualitative studies, teaching, training, fieldwork, dry and wet lab works, and project management in both low- and high-income countries. Before joining UICOMP as an Assistant Professor in August 2023, she completed postdoctoral research on the antimicrobial resistance and biosecurity projects at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, the community-acquired antimicrobial resistance (of CRACKLE) project at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and the Emerging Pandemic Threats Program for Nepal at the University of California-Davis.
