Bio
Raymond Guiteras is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Core Faculty in the Global Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WaSH) Research Cluster at North Carolina State University. His research focuses on how households in developing countries act to protect themselves from environmental health risks, in particular through investments and behaviors related to water, sanitation and hygiene. His papers include studies of social spillovers in demand for hygienic latrines in Bangladesh, the impact of micro-finance on investments in environmental health in Cambodia, and demand for clean water in Ghana. Current projects include research on crop residue management in Punjab, India and reducing methane emissions from rice farming in the Philippines.
