Bio

Dr Navneet Dhand is an Associate Professor in Veterinary Biostatistics and Epidemiology at The University of Sydney. He also leads the Asia Pacific Consortium of Veterinary Epidemiology (APCOVE), which involves epidemiologists from all vet schools in Australia and New Zealand and aims to strengthen the veterinary epidemiology capacity in the Asia Pacific region. He secured over $10 million in research funding and contributed to the field by publishing over 200 peer-reviewed articles. His expertise lies in the epidemiological investigation of infectious diseases, with a particular focus on One Health and zoonotic diseases. Dr. Dhand actively contributes to the academic community as an Associate Editor at the prestigious Preventive Veterinary Medicine journal and as Chair of the Subject Standards Committee within the Epidemiology Chapter of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists. Beyond academia, he extends his expertise globally by providing consultancy services in epidemiology and One Health to various international organizations, including the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH). He has received several awards, including the Chris Baldock Award from the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists and the Supervisor of the Year Award 2019 from the Sydney University Postgraduate Representative Association. He was named the Research Leader in Veterinary Medicine in Australia in The Australian Special Research Report 2020 for achieving the highest number of citations from papers published in the last five years in the 20 top journals in the field.
