Bio

I am a Professor of Veterinary Microbiology at the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine, one of the leading academic veterinary centers in the country. In addition to research training and expertise in the ecology and epidemiology of enteric and AMR pathogens from livestock, I have experience in veterinary diagnostic support services. I have been responsible for the development of routine bacteriological and molecular diagnostic capabilities at the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine, and have helped established improved infectious disease control policies and procedures for the NCSU Veterinary Hospital. My current work involves characterization of enteric bacteria from animal sources. I have experience with many local, national and global AMR surveillance programs and participate a WHO collaborating center. I have a strong enthusiasm for supporting training programs at the NC State CVM and an interest in developing practical and cost-effective diagnostic surveillance programs that have scalability and can be used in many different resource settings.
