Dr. Manuel Kleiner is an Associate Professor in Microbiomes and Complex Microbial Communities. His research focuses on understanding functional interactions in host-associated and free-living microbiomes. His lab develops and applies metagenomics and metaproteomics approaches, as well as stable isotope probing approaches to study these microbiomes. His lab currently works in diverse areas including interactions of the diet with the intestinal microbiota, plant-microbe interactions, the roles of bacteriophages in microbiomes, and symbionts of insect that manipulate the insect’s reproduction.
