Bio
Kathryn Stevenson is an associate professor in the Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism Management. She is interested in environmental education and children in nature, including exploring benefits of time in nature for youth and children. Most recently, she has focused on a resilience education project that guides students to look to natural systems to draw lessons for their own resilience as well as their communities. For instance, what do coastal systems tell us about flexibility and adaptation that might translate to the lives of a middle schooler or a coastal community as a whole? How might this exploration develop a sense of place, desire for stewardship, and civic engagement around resilience challenges?
